MSG Network Wins the Night for Knicks-Nets Game

New York, NY (December 20, 2012) – While the Knicks dominated the battle of the boroughs Wednesday night, beating the Nets 100-86 at Madison Square Garden, MSG Network won the battle for television viewers, scoring the top Nielsen household and key adult demo ratings out of the three telecasts. MSG’s game coverage generated a 3.35 household rating and a 1.91 Adults 25-54 rating, topping ESPN (2.54 HH / 1.20 A25-54) and YES (0.32 HH / 0.29 A25-54).

Through 19 Nielsen-measured games on MSG this season, Knicks telecasts are averaging a 3.41 household rating, up 86% over the first 19 games of the 2011-12 season (1.83 HH rating). (Due to Hurricane Sandy, Nielsen was unable to report ratings between 10/29/2012 and 11/8/2012, including Knicks games on 11/2, 11/4 and 11/5.)

MSG’s Knicks telecasts resume Friday night when the team hosts the Chicago Bulls at 7:30 p.m. Coverage on MSG starts at 7:00 p.m. with “Visa Knicks Game Night” and continues immediately after the game with the “Tri-State Ford Knicks Postgame Show” and “Knicks Extra.”

Following coverage of the game, the fifth and final episode of MSG’s original series “The Garden Transformed: Year 2,” which takes a behind-the-scenes look at the second phase of Madison Square Garden’s historic, top-to-bottom transformation, debuts and chronicles the final hours and minutes leading up the Knicks home opener of the 2012-13 season against the Miami Heat.
