GIRLS TRI-STATE TOP TEN POLL

1. BERGTRAUM, NYC (23-1)

The Lady Blazers steamrolled Jefferson in the PSAL semifinals and now have a shot at their 11th straight NYC title this Saturday at MSG against No. 8 South Shore.

2. SHABAZZ, NJ (29-2)

Vanessa Watson's program is simply the standard in New Jersey for public schools. The Lady Bulldogs beat then-No. 2 Neptune, 71-63, in the Group 3 State Finals. It was the sixth state title for the school. The Newark school will now face No. 5 Colts Neck in the Tournament of Champions semifinals on March 18th.

3. ST. JOHN VIANNEY, NJ (29-2)

If Shabazz is the standard for public school girls basketball in NJ, the Lady Lancers have set the bar for parochial programs. SJV crushed IHA, 77-46, for their astonishing 12th state title in Parochial A. They now face No. 8 Paterson Catholic in the other T of C semifinal.

4. NEPTUNE, NJ (31-1)

It was a phenomenal year for the Shore Conference Champions. The Scarlet Fliers are going to be serious contenders next season.

5. COLTS NECK, NJ (28-3)

John Truhan and his Lady Cougars won their first ever Group 4 title and are in the NJ Final Four.

6. ST. MICHAEL ACADEMY, NYC (23-3)

The Lady Eagles finally broke through and won their first CHSAA state Class AA championship. They beat St. Peter's by 22.

7. SOUTH SHORE, NYC (23-4)

The Lady Vikings fulfilled their goal and made it all the way to MSG. They will not be satisfied until they dethrone the mighty Lady Blazers.

8. PATERSON CATHOLIC, NJ (29-2)

Yes, I admit, I slept on the Lady Cougars this year. But no more! PC won the Parochial B title and then whipped then-No. 9 Bloomfield Tech, 56-41, in the first round of the T of C. No. 3 SJV awaits.

9. ST. PETER'S, SI (24-4)

The Lady Eagles won their 14th straight Staten Island CHSAA title this season.

10. FAIRFIELD WARDE, CT (26-0)

The Lady Mustangs are a win away from a Class L title.
