LAX REPORT ON DEMAND

NEW BALANCE HSW PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSE

Lorenzo Venable - Manasquan HS, NJ
Jr. RB - 5'8, 184 pounds

Playing in his biggest game of the year, the Big Blue tailback stole the show in his school's 19-14 victory over Johnson in the Central Jersey Group II final. His 28 carries, 191 yards and three touchdowns led the Shore Conference school to an 11th overall state title.

DEFENSE

Trevor Treibt - Brookfield HS, CT
Sr. OLB - 6'1, 180 pounds

Playing in his final high school game, the three-year starter helped lead the Bobcats to their first state title since 1995, beating Ledyard in the Class M Final, 16-14. The captain, who loves to study game film, worked his magic on the defensive side of the ball with two interceptions and nine tackles. His final pick came with 53 seconds left, halting a Ledyard drive that would have produced the game-winning score.

NYJ/NYG HS Football Coaches of the Year

Each week during the season, the Jets and Giants selected a tri-state area coach of the week. To celebrate the season finale, both professional New York football teams announced their Coaches of the Year.

New York Jets

Fred Caprista - George Washington HS, NYC
First year; 10-1

The Sheepshead Bay grad has made GW his third head coaching stint after stops at Mckee Tech and Peekskill HS. This year, he and his staff led George Washington to its first title in 30 years, a 20-14 overtime victory in the PSAL Cup Championship.

New York Giants

Lou Marinelli - New Canaan HS, CT
32nd year; career record 241-88-7

Marinelli, who has spent the last 28 years as the head coach of the Rams, led his boys to the Class MM state title, beating archrival Darien 26-7 on Saturday. With the victory, NC finished the year 13-0 and No. 1 in the state, both firsts for one of the real good guys in the coaching fraternity.
