    Madison Square Garden Transformation Project

Premieres Sunday, February 19 at 11:00 p.m. with a New Episode Each Night Next Week Following a Knicks or Rangers Game

New York, NY (February 16, 2012) – MSG Network will take sports and entertainment fans behind-the-scenes of the first phase of the historic, three-year Transformation of Madison Square Garden in a new show called “The Garden Transformed: Year One.” The five-part series, voiced-over by actor Billy Crudup, will premiere Sunday, February 19 at 11:00 p.m. with new episodes debuting each night next week following either a Knicks or Rangers game (full schedule below).

MSG Network’s cameras have followed every move of the unprecedented project, including the year-round construction, the first of three consecutive offseason shutdowns, and the debut of the first phase of the Transformation for the New York Rangers’ home opener in October 2011.

In the show, fans will get to see everything from the removal of the famous Arena seats to the construction of the new Knicks and Rangers locker rooms to the behind-the-scenes on the expansion of the 6th Floor concourse. The first phase of the Transformation included a completely new lower bowl seating area with larger, more comfortable seats; an expanded Madison Concourse (6th Floor) featuring many new amenities and food options, including the MSG Signature Collection; the Delta Sky360° Club and 1879 Club Presented by J.P. Morgan; viewing areas on the 8th Floor and the West Balcony (10th Floor) with new amenities and direct views into the Arena bowl; and the new state-of-the-art Knicks and Rangers locker rooms and Star Dressing Rooms.

“MSG Network viewers will have front row seats and behind-the-scenes access for the first phase of the Transformation of The World’s Most Famous Arena,” said Dan Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager, MSG Networks. “Our cameras have had exclusive access from the beginning of the project and we’re excited to be able to share those images with our audience.”

The series does not only focus on the construction taking place, but the personalities behind the intense work schedule and their dedication to the beloved building. In addition, the show includes all-new interviews with a number of celebrities who saw the results of the first phase of the Transformation up close, including comedian Chris Rock, who shares his personal experiences at The World’s Most Famous Arena.

“I went from watching the Purple Rain Tour in the last row to actually being on stage. How much better does life get?” said Rock.

Madison Square Garden currently hosts more than 400 events each year with over four million fans passing through the turnstiles. For more than a century The Garden has embraced generations of fans who have come to express their pride and passion for teams, athletes, performers, and statesmen at the hundreds of historic events and defining moments that have taken place at The World’s Most Famous Arena.
