New York, NY (December 18, 2012) – MSG Network’s Monday night telecast of the New York Knicks-Houston Rockets game garnered a 4.77 Nielsen household rating, making it the highest-rated Knicks game of the 2012-13 season.
Through 18 Nielsen-measured games on MSG this season, Knicks telecasts are averaging a 3.41 household rating, up 85% over the first 18 games of the 2011-12 season (1.84 HH rating). (Due to Hurricane Sandy, Nielsen was unable to report ratings between 10/29/2012 and 11/8/2012, including Knicks games on 11/2, 11/4 and 11/5.)
Knicks telecasts on MSG are also scoring high ratings in the key adult and male viewer demos this season. Through the first 18 measured games on MSG, Knicks telecasts are averaging a 2.05 among Adults 25-54, up 141% compared to the 2011-12 season (0.85 A25-54), and a 2.95 among Males 25-54, up 121% compared to last season (1.33 M25-54)
MSG’s Knicks telecasts resume tomorrow night when the team hosts the Brooklyn Nets at 7:00 p.m. Coverage on MSG starts at 6:30 p.m. with “Visa Knicks Game Night” and continues immediately after the game with the “Tri-State Ford Knicks Postgame Show” and “Knicks Extra.”
Following coverage of the game, Episode 3 of MSG’s original series “The Garden Transformed: Year 2,” which takes a behind-the-scenes look at the second phase of Madison Square Garden’s historic, top-to-bottom transformation, debuts and features a number of special guests, including former World Middleweight Champion Bernard Hopkins, Knicks guard Iman Shumpert, Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh and the Beastie Boys’ Mike D.
