    MSG Networks Announces 2013-14 Hockey Telecast Schedule

    Nearly 300 Live NHL Regular Season Game Telecasts

    Season Openers Scheduled for Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4

    Thursday, October 3
    7:00 p.m. – Devils at Penguins on MSG+
    10:00 p.m. – Rangers at Coyotes on MSG

    Friday, October 4
    7:00 p.m. – Islanders at Devils on MSG+

    Sam Rosen Enters His 30th Year as “The Voice of the Rangers” on MSG

    New York, NY (September 10, 2013) – MSG Networks, the exclusive television home of four National Hockey League teams, will carry 293 regular season games among the New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres (Upstate New York only), more than any other television network in North America, during the 2013-14 NHL season. Complete telecast schedules for all four teams are attached.

    New York Rangers

    MSG Networks will carry 70 of the 82 New York Rangers regular season games, plus all six of the team’s preseason games during the 2013-14 NHL season. Rangers game telecasts start Monday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. on MSG when the Rangers visit the New Jersey Devils in a preseason matchup. The regular season gets underway on Thursday, October 3 as the Rangers travel to Phoenix to face the Coyotes at 10:00 p.m. Rangers game telecasts will be preceded by the 30-minute “Visa Rangers Game Night” pregame show and immediately followed by the “Mercedes Rangers Postgame Show.”

    Sam Rosen will return for his 30th year as the play-by-play voice of the Rangers and will be joined for the eighth season by in-game analyst Joe Micheletti. Al Trautwig will serve as host of Rangers telecasts for all home games and Bill Pidto will handle host responsibilities for all road games. John Giannone will resume his reporter duties for all Rangers games, while Ron Duguay and Dave Maloney will contribute as studio analysts throughout the season.

    New Jersey Devils

    MSG Networks will carry 75 of the 82 New Jersey Devils regular season games, plus the team’s preseason game against the New York Rangers, during the 2013-14 NHL season. Devils game telecasts start Monday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. when the team hosts the Rangers in a preseason matchup on MSG+. The regular season schedule gets under way on Thursday, October 3 as the Devils travel to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins at 7:00 p.m. on MSG+.

    Steve Cangialosi will return for his third season as the Devils play-by-play announcer and will be joined by game analyst Glenn ‘Chico’ Resch, who will drop the puck on his 18th year in the Devils’ broadcast booth. Deb Placey will return as host and reporter and will be joined by analyst Ken Daneyko. Devils game telecasts will be preceded by the 30-minute “Visa Devils Game Night” pregame show and immediately followed by the “Esurance Devils Postgame Show.”

    New York Islanders

    MSG Networks will carry 78 of the 82 New York Islanders regular season games during the 2013-14 NHL season. Islanders game telecasts start Friday, October 4 when the team travels to New Jersey to face the Devils in the season opener at 7:00 p.m. on MSG+.

    Howie Rose enters his 19th year as the Islanders’ play-by-play announcer and is joined by game analyst Butch Goring for the fourth season. Peter Ruttgaizer will return for his third season as host and reporter and Stan Fischler will return as correspondent for all Islanders home games. Islanders game telecasts will be preceded by the 30-minute “Visa Islanders Game Night” pregame show and immediately followed by the “ANA Airlines Islanders Postgame Show.”

    Buffalo Sabres (Upstate New York only)

    MSG Networks will carry 70 of the 82 Buffalo Sabres regular season games, plus the team’s preseason matchup against Columbus on Wednesday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m., during the 2013-14 NHL season.

    Rick Jeanneret, the longest-tenured broadcaster in hockey, will begin his 42nd year behind the microphone calling the action for Sabres games and will be joined for the second season by analyst Rob Ray. Brian Duff begins his second full season as the in-game host for all Sabres telecasts and Dan Dunleavy joins the broadcast team as a contributor to the pregame and postgame shows and the backup play-by-play announcer.

    "Hockey Night Live,” MSG Networks’ weekly comprehensive hockey show covering all four teams as well as the rest of the NHL action, will air every Saturday night throughout the hockey season.
