    MSG Networks Is New York's Home For Rangers Playoff Coverage

    MSG NETWORKS IS NEW YORK’S HOME FOR RANGERS PLAYOFFS COVERAGE

    Exclusive Local Coverage of the Rangers-Flyers Series, Plus Postgame Coverage Following Every Rangers Game in the Postseason

    Live Game Day Updates Every 30 Minutes Starting at 2:00 p.m. from the Rangerstown Hockey House presented by Chase and MSG Networks Studios

    New York, NY (April 15, 2014) – MSG Networks, New York’s home for Rangers playoff hockey, will have the exclusive local telecasts of five of the seven potential opening round games of the Rangers-Flyers series, including Game 1 on Thursday, April 17. All MSG Networks games, including pregame and postgame coverage, will be simulcast on MSG and MSG+. A full series television schedule is listed below.

    Coverage of the Rangers-Flyers series starts Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. with the “Visa Rangers Game Night” pregame show. The first 30 minutes of the show will include live updates and interviews from the Rangerstown Hockey House presented by Chase, located on the corner of 33rd Street and 7th Avenue, outside of Madison Square Garden. The Game 1 puck drops on MSG and MSG+ at 7:00 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the “Mercedes-Benz Postgame Show” and “Geico Rangers Extra presented by Cadillac.”

    MSG Networks will also have exclusive local coverage of Games 3 and 4, as well as Games 6 and 7, if necessary. NBC will carry the national broadcast of Game 2 on Sunday, April 20 at noon and, if necessary, Game 5 on Sunday, April 27 at noon. MSG Networks will have exclusive one-hour postgame coverage of every Rangers game in the playoffs, including after national broadcast games.

    MSG Networks Rangers playoff coverage will feature play-by-play announcer Sam Rosen with analyst Joe Micheletti calling the game action. The studio crew for pregame and postgame coverage will include former Rangers Ron Duguay and Dave Maloney along with E.J. Hradek, Al Trautwig, Bill Pidto and John Giannone.

    MSG will celebrate the Rangers-Flyers rivalry on Wednesday with a look back at the 1986 Patrick Division Semifinals starting at 9:00 a.m. Each of the five games in the classic series, which the Rangers won 3-2 to advance to the division final, will be shown in two-hour blocks.

    MSG will kick off game day at noon on Thursday with a marathon of “Beginnings" and “The Game 365” episodes featuring current Rangers players Henrik Lundqvist, Brad Richards, Derek Stepan, Ryan McDonagh, Dan Girardi, John Moore, Derick Brassard and Derek Dorsett. At 5:00 p.m., “To The Point,” a series of interviews by feature reporter Alyonka Larionov, will showcase discussions with Lundqvist, McDonagh, Mats Zuccarello and Carl Hagelin.

    At 5:30 p.m., just prior to live coverage of Game 1, MSG will telecast a special Rangers Playoffs edition of the original program “The AV Squad” with Rangers coach Alain Vigneault. In the episode, Vigneault looks ahead to the opening series with the Flyers and talks about his past playoff experience, including his run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2011 with Vancouver.

    Starting at 2:00 p.m. before Game 1 and continuing throughout the first round for MSG Networks game telecasts (3:00 p.m. for 8:00 p.m. starts), Duguay and Pidto will host live updates every 30 minutes from the Rangerstown Hockey House presented by Chase and MSG Networks studios, bringing fans the latest Rangers-Flyers news and highlights from around the league.
