    John McEnroe to Join Al Trautwig and Katrina Adams for the Call of the Singles Match

    New York, NY (March 3, 2014) – MSG+ will telecast the 2014 BNP Paribas Showdown in two one-hour back-to-back specials on Monday, March 17 starting at 8:00 p.m. The two-match event will take place tonight at Madison Square Garden featuring one of tennis’ top rivalries, Novak Djokovic versus Andy Murray, as well as, for the first time in event history, a unique brothers doubles match between John and Patrick McEnroe and Mike and Bob Bryan.

    MSG’s Al Trautwig will call the two matches alongside former professional tennis player Katrina Adams. John McEnroe will join the duo to call the singles match immediately following his face-off with The Bryan Brothers.

    This year's event will mark The Garden debut for all of the players except John McEnroe, who has a storied career at The World's Most Famous Arena. The BNP Paribas Showdown is part of the second annual World Tennis Day, a global celebration of tennis that includes Showdown events in Hong Kong and London in addition to New York City. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and its member nations will host participation events such as clinics and open houses at clubs around the world as part of this day. In 2013, 58 nations held World Tennis Day participation events.

    “I am looking forward to coming to Madison Square Garden,” said Djokovic. “I have heard nothing but great things about this event and it should be a big night for tennis in New York, one of my favorite places to play.”

    “I'm excited about coming to the Garden,” said Murray. “Ivan (Lendl) has told me plenty of stories about matches and other events that have taken place there. There is so much history attached to the venue and it should be a great night for both Novak and me."

    The participants in the 7th annual BNP Paribas Showdown, which consistently attracts the biggest names in tennis, will follow the likes of Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Ivan Lendl, Juan Martin del Potro, Serena and Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters, Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Wozniacki, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic who all took part in previous Showdowns providing unforgettable memories for New York tennis fans. The BNP Paribas Showdown is produced by MSG Sports and StarGames.

    The Madison Square Garden Arena has been host to some of the greatest matches and biggest names in tennis for more than 80 years. The men’s and women’s year-end tour championships took place at The Garden from 1977-1989 and 1979-2000, respectively, and featured the likes of Björn Borg and Martina Navratilova.
