New York, NY (November 1, 2012) – MSG Network, New York’s home for Knicks basketball, tips off the 2012-13 season Friday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. as the Knicks host defending NBA Champion Miami Heat live from Madison Square Garden. The matchup is the first of 70 Knicks games MSG will telecast during the season.
The night starts at 6:30 p.m. with the premiere of “The Mike Woodson Show” featuring the Knicks coach and MSG analyst Alan Hahn. The weekly, 30-minute program will include a number of regular segments, including: Fresh 24, a top-of-the-show rapid-fire question and answer session between Hahn and Coach Woodson touching on everything basketball and beyond; Starting Five, featuring the duo as they dive a little deeper into five of the hottest topics of the week surrounding the Knicks’ season and; Wired, a behind-the-scenes look at Knicks practice with a player or coach mic’ed up.
At 7:00 p.m., MSG will present the “Knicks Tip-Off Special” presented by Chase. Host Baron Davis steps over the velvet rope to take MSG’s cameras backstage at New York’s Beacon Theatre as performer Swizz Beatz and the Knicks City Dancers pump fans up for the start of the season before the official introduction of the 2012 Knicks team.
At 7:30 p.m., the “Visa Knicks Game Night” pregame show takes center stage with host Al Trautwig and analysts Wally Szczerbiak and Hahn from MSG’s Arena studios to bring fans up to speed with the latest news and starting lineups before tip-off. At 8:00 p.m., MSG presents live coverage of the Knicks and the Miami Heat from Madison Square Garden featuring play-by-play announcer Spero Dedes and analyst Walt “Clyde” Frazier, along with Knicks courtside reporters Tina Cervasio and Jill Martin. MSG’s studio team will return immediately following the game for the 30-minute “Ford Knicks Postgame” show as Trautwig, Hahn and Szczerbiak break down the action.
Knicks fans can tune into MSG starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday for live updates every half hour with Bill Pidto from the MSG Studios at 11 Penn Plaza. Knicks basketball on MSG continues on Sunday, November 4 and Monday, November 5 as New York and Philadelphia play a home-and-home series with Sunday’s game at Madison Square Garden at noon and Monday’s game at 7:00 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
