Welcome to my new column! For starters, this is technically a blog, but since this is brand new, and with me being new to the blogging scene, I felt like the word “column” really brought a classy, respectable weight to the title. What’s more, I am without a doubt expecting the word “column” to do wonders for the actual material.
So, with that said, I will be writing this column for Liberty Hoopla about two things:
1) Sharing a side of myself that you don’t often get to see on the court and;
2) Having fun!
Think of this as a discussion too, an open forum of sorts. Your thoughts and comments are most welcome. Imagine that we’ve found a comfortable spot at a cafe, kicked up our heels, and are having a coffee while shooting the breeze. Conversation flows from this to that and we’re just going with it. Don’t get me wrong, this is by no means fluff material, but it is meant to be easy, care-free reading.
My approach to writing this is totally contemporary. On display will be a blend of my current life, style and thoughts in writing.
There may be some "Dear Abby" moments where I’m just thinking out loud and throwing out questions, which in turn would give you all the opportunity to share your advice and wisdom.
Or, I might rave about my favorite show on HGTV (which incidentally, is Color Splash with David Bromstad) and insist that you all tune in.
You might be thinking how this will all work? Can it even work?
Well let me tell you, this is so much more than words on a page – this is a social experiment! Forget definitions. Not one for settling, this column is all about pushing the boundaries. We may fall out of bounds every now and then, but we shall see how far we can go!
In the end, maybe you’ll learn about a restaurant you’ve never heard of, or a fun fact you can use as a conversation starter. Even better, you might be challenged to think about something from a different perspective.
As you can see, NP and the City has lofty aspirations! Stick around, share your opinions, and enjoy the conversation. Who knows? You may end up forming your own contemporary moment. After all, it’s the journey that counts, not the destination! – a wonderful adage that can even apply to a column (or so I hope).
