Rangers Announce 2010-2011 Schedule



Celebrating the franchise's 85th anniversary with their season opener on October 9th at Buffalo

New York, June 22, 2010 – The New York Rangers will open the 2010-11 season on the road for the third consecutive season with an Eastern Conference matchup against Buffalo on Saturday, October 9, at HSBC Arena. The Blueshirts will raise the curtain on Broadway six nights later on Friday, October 15, in an Original Six matchup vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Rangers regular season campaign will conclude with a home contest against Atlantic Division rivals the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, April 9.

The Rangers will face each NHL team at least one time over the course of the season.  New York will face Atlantic Division foes New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and the Islanders six times each. The Blueshirts will face all other Eastern Conference opponents a total of four times apiece. Also, the Rangers will host the Northwest Division - Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Minnesota and Vancouver - and will travel to meet the Central Division opponents - Columbus, Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis - while hosting the defending Stanley Cup Champions the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday, November 1. New York will host Pacific Division opponents Los Angeles and Phoenix, while travelling to face-off against Anaheim, Dallas and San Jose. In addition, the Rangers will matchup against St. Louis at MSG, and travel to face-off in Colorado and Minnesota in three at-large games.

The schedule features one Saturday contest at MSG, the season finale vs. the New Jersey Devils on April 9, and 10 Sunday games at home. The Rangers will play 18 back-to-back sets, including a home-and-home set vs. the New York Islanders on Thursday, December 2 at Long Island and Friday, December 3 at MSG. The team's longest homestand will be four games, from November 7 vs. St. Louis to November 14 vs. Edmonton. The Blueshirts' busiest month is November, featuring 16 games including a season-high, eight contests at home, and the busiest night on the Rangers' home schedule is Sunday, with 10 dates. In addition, the Rangers will play six home games on Mondays, seven on Tuesdays, four on Wednesdays, nine on Thursdays, and four on Fridays during the season. The longest break in between home games for New York is 11 days from March 24 to April 4, while the team embarks on a season-high, four-game road trip. The Rangers will finish the regular season with 16 of their last 30 games following the All-Star Break at MSG, including each of their final three contests.

Starting times for all games at MSG will be 7:00 PM, except for the following seven dates: Sun., Nov. 14 vs. Edmonton (12:30 PM); Sun., Dec. 5 vs. Ottawa (5:00 PM); Sun., Feb. 13 vs. Pittsburgh (FLEX); Sun., Feb. 20 vs. Philadelphia (FLEX); Sun., Feb. 27 vs. Tampa Bay (1:00 PM); Sun., Mar. 6 vs. Philadelphia (FLEX); and Sat., Apr. 9 vs. New Jersey (12:30 PM).

Single-game tickets will be put on-sale to the public in September. No date has been set at this time.
