New York, NY – June 29, 2010 – On the eve of the highly anticipated start of the NBA’s free agency period, three lucky Knicks fans will take part in a unique experience at Madison Square Garden to usher in the premiere of MSG Networks’ “Knicks Night Live” just after midnight on Wednesday night (Thursday, July 1 at 12:01am). The three winners of a contest will show off their Knicks fandom by sleeping at The Garden tonight.
The contest winners – Adam Liebowitz, 30, of Manhattan; Michael McCrae, 25, of Montville, NJ; and George Kefalogiannis, 21, of Queens – submitted to MSG.com in125 words or less why they thought they should represent Knicks fans at the premiere of “Knicks Night Live” on MSG Network.
The trio will spend a full night and day at The Garden before the debut of “Knicks Night Live” and the start of free agency late Wednesday night. Tonight at 8:00 p.m., celebrated New York eatery Carmine’s will cater a special Italian dinner, including their renowned chicken parmesan, for the winners. After a night’s rest, they will enjoy donuts, bagels and coffee provided by Dunkin Donuts before showering in the Knicks locker room and taking a personal tour of The Garden in the morning.
At noon on Wednesday, the super fans will sit down with Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier for a special New York lunch – a “free agency sandwich platter” created by the world-famous Carnegie Deli. The sandwiches will be filled with corned beef, pastrami, turkey, coleslaw and Russian dressing on two pieces of New York Rye Bread. In the afternoon, CRUMBS Bake Shop will stop by to present the winners with hand-made “free agency” cupcakes, and that evening they will attend the James Taylor & Carole King concert in one of MSG’s luxury suites. Once midnight hits, the trio will watch and make an appearance on the premiere of “Knicks Night Live” with Frazier, Al Trautwig and Kelly Tripucka.
“Knicks Night Live” will anchor “Knicks Thursdays,” part of MSG Network’s Summer Block Party. After the 30-minute midnight special, the show will come back live 18 hours later at 8:00 p.m. for one-hour, its regularly scheduled time and length on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.
