A New York native, Boomer Esiason has known success both on the football field and in front of the camera. Since 2002 he has hosted "The Boomer Esiason Show" on MSG. In this weekly half-hour show, he goes one-on-one with football stars as well as other sports icons and celebrities in a candid conversation about the NFL, sports and life.
Currently Esiason also serves as a studio analyst for "The NFL Today" pre-game show with the likes of Bryant Gumbel and Dan Marino on CBS. He is also as an analyst for radio broadcasts of "Monday Night Football," host of WFAN's "Boomer and Carton" show and co-host of "In the Huddle" for the Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports network and. From 1998-2000, Esiason was the color commentator for "Monday Night Football" which was then on ABC.
Arguably the most prolific left-handed quarterback to have played in the NFL, Esiason retired in 1997 after 13 noteworthy years in the league. Throughout his football career, Esiason garnered some prestigious acknowledgements. He was named to four Pro Bowls (1986, 1988, 1989, 1993) and he holds several NFL career records for left-handed quarterbacks, including most touchdown passes (247), passing yards (37,920), and completions (2,969). He also earned the NFL's Most Valuable Player Award in 1988 and the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 1995 for his charitable work.
In 2002 Esiason was nominated for a New York Emmy in the category of "On-Camera Achievement: Programming" for his work on "The Boomer Esiason Show" on MSG.
A humanitarian at heart, Esiason and his wife, Cheryl, have helped raise over $35 million for cystic fibrosis since 1993 through The Boomer Esiason Foundation. He also sits on the board of The Garden of Dreams Foundation, a non-for-profit that helps raise money for children in crisis. Esiason currently resides in Manhasset, New York with his wife and their son Gunner.
