Over the past decade Mike Breen has emerged as one of the NBA's signature voices. Breen is currently the lead play-by-play announcer for the New York Knicks telecasts on MSG. He shares the TV booth alongside Knicks great, Walt "Clyde" Frazier. The duo has been calling games together since 2003.
Breen also currently serves veteran broadcaster lead voice for the NBA including the Finals for ABC and ESPN.
During his time with MSG, which began in 1992, Breen has handled the play-by-play radio broadcast for the New York Knicks and also called play-by-play for the New York Liberty in 1997.
Earlier in his career, Breen worked for the widely popular "Imus in the Morning" radio program in New York on WFAN for 14 years. The versatile Breen has also called the play-by-play for the AFL, NFL and three WNBA Finals for NBC.
In addition, Breen served in that same capacity for the 1998 Women's World Basketball Championships. The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association recognized his talents that same year when he was named "Broadcaster of the Year" in New York State.
In the summer of 2004, he had the pleasure of handling play-by-play for men's and women's basketball at the Summer Olympics in Athens. It was his fourth tour of Olympic duty.
Breen began his broadcasting career shortly after graduation from Fordham University, serving as a newscaster and sportscaster for WEOK/WPDH Radio in Poughkeepsie, NY. Soon after, he began working as a television commentator for Marist College basketball games on the Colony Sports Network, while also serving as analyst for Seton Hall basketball on radio.
Breen, who is a four time New York Emmy nominee in the category of "On-Camera Talent: Sports Play-by-Play," took home his first win in 2009 where he was recognized for his work with the New York Knicks on MSG.
Among the numerous charities Breen is involved with, he is known for his devotion to the St. Mary's Children's Hospital and The Miracle Foundation. Also, a running enthusiast, he has completed three New York City Marathons.
Breen lives with his wife Rosanne, sons Michael and Matthew, and daughter Nicole on Long Island.
