Movies, movies, movies.  Sports movies are the name of the game on CINEMA WEEKEND, part of the MSG SUMMER BLOCK PARTY.  MSG is the place to see the best sports films from Academy Award winners to cult favorites, every Saturday and Sunday. Epic battles and last second shots are the order of the day in ROCKY and HOOSIERS.  Surfing, Wrestling, and Hockey are all here with THE ENDLESS SUMMER, VISION QUEST and BOYS ON THE BUS.  Other hits include PAPER LION, EVERYBODY’S ALL AMERICAN and RUFFIAN

The Boys on the Bus (1987)

The Endless Summer (1966)

The crown jewel of Bruce Brown surfing documentaries. Brown follows two young surfers around the world in search of the perfect wave, and ends up finding quite a few in addition to some colorful local characters.

Matthew Modine, Linda Fiorentino.  A high school wrestler decides he wants to be something more than an average high school athlete and sets his sights on a prize that many don't think he can win-- to wrestle and beat Brian Shute, known as the best high school freestyle wrestler in Washington State.

That Championship Season (1982)

It started as a friendly meeting between 4 old buddies with their basketball coach and ended up in revealing the truth about their relationship when they decide to go back to the old glorious days and reunite into the team which won that championship season, back in 1957.

Diggstown (1992)

James Woods, Louis Gossett, Oliver Platt, Bruce Dern.  A just-released prisoner sets up a bet with a business man. The businessman owns most of a boxing-mad town called Diggstown. The bet is that he can find a boxer that will knock out 10 Diggstown men, in a boxing ring, within 24 hours.

Billy Crudup, Donald Sutherland.  The film follows the life of famous 1970s runner Steve Prefontaine from his youth days in Oregon to the University of Oregon, and later to Olympics in Munich and his early death at 24 in a car crash. It also chronicles the career of coach Bill Bowerman who developed the prototype of the original Nike running shoe.
