PFLmma: PFL 1: Regular Season
Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
About the Event
Overview
Professional Fighters League is coming to New York City as they kick off a seven-week regular season run on Thursday, June 7, at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Formerly known as World Series of Fighting (WSOF), PFL officials have developed a league system for a sport that has generally existed as a series of one-off events. PFL will award $10 million in prize money to athletes involved in the playoffs for the company’s inaugural 2018 season.
The first of seven regular-season events will feature hometown fighter and featherweight favorite, undefeated Andre Harrison, taking on top Chinese contender Juma Tuerxun. The winner will take a giant step towards solidifying his place in the $10 million post-season tournament.
Also featured on the 12-fight slate will be Lance Palmer, a four-time Division I All-American from Ohio State University, who will square-off with Russian standout Bekbulat Magomedov in another featherweight affair.
Heavyweights will also be in action as former UFC sluggers Mike Kyle and Shawn Jordan will swing for the fences in hopes of etching their names on the PFL postseason roster. Both athletes are former collegiate football players with Jordan notching a pair of NCAA National Championships while playing fullback for the LSU Tigers.
